Madhu VuppuluriPresident and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Vuppuluri has over 30 years of leadership experience in the manufacturing and service industries and has been with EGFL for over 18 years. Based out of New York, he has been instrumental in building EGFL’s presence in North America since 1999. Mr. Vuppuluri was closely associated with the development and financing of EGFL’s pellet production facility and slurry pipeline in India during the mid 1990s. He has led our development efforts with respect to the Project since 2007 from the acquisition phase through the entire development, permitting and financing of the Project. He holds a master’s degree in financial management from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai and an MBA from Columbia University in New York.

Steve RutherfordChief of Projects
Mr. Rutherford has over has over 35 years of experience in engineering, constructing and operating taconite plants, industrial sand plants, DRI plants and submerged arc furnace plants. Mr. Rutherford has held senior leadership positions with Inland Steel Mining Company, US Silica Holdings, Inc., Iron Dynamics Inc., Steel Dynamics Inc. and Mesabi Nugget LLC. Mr. Rutherford was project leader at Iron Dynamics Inc. for construction of one of the world’s first coal based DRI plants and project manager at Mesabi Nugget LLC for construction of one of the world’s first commercial iron nugget plants. Mr. Rutherford holds a B.S. in industrial technology from Bemidji State University, a master electrical license from the State of Minnesota and an electronics degree from Western Wisconsin Technical Institute.

James H. HoytDirector of Sales
Mr. Hoyt joined ESML in 2011 as director of sales. Mr. Hoyt began his career in the iron ore business in 1976 working in the iron ore sales department of Oglebay Norton Company, where he was responsible for sales of all materials of Oglebay Norton Company including iron ore, perlite and fluorspar products. Prior to joining ESML, Mr. Hoyt was at the Iron Ore Company of Canada, beginning in the development and marketing of DR grade iron ore products for global sales and then later holding the position of manager of North American pellet sales, in which he handled all blast furnace sales and contract management. Mr. Hoyt has also served as a full−time consultant to the Tondu Corporation during his career.

Kevin Kangas Director, Governmental Affairs; Health, Safety & Environment
Mr. Kangas has over 22 years of experience in chemical engineering, plant design, project development/feasibility study, manufacturing, strategic planning, brand building, organizational design/development, environmental, health and safety management and government, public and media relations. Mr. Kangas has worked in various management and corporate level capacities for Sappi Fine Paper, a global pulp and paper producer. Mr. Kangas was a former Regional Manager and senior engineering consultant for Wenck Associates and the lead environmental engineer during the engineering, construction and startup of a $1 billion bleached kraft pulp mill project for Potlatch Corporation. He has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota Duluth. 

Ken KinseyChief of Operations
Mr. Kinsey joined ESML in October 2010. Prior to joining ESML, Mr. Kinsey has held senior leadership positions with Nucor Corporation for over 16 years where he was involved in the greenfield construction start up and operation of its first compact strip production plant, which is located in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He also held leadership positions with Steel Dynamics, Inc. for over 13 years where he was involved in the greenfield construction, startup and operation of the company’s first facility in Butler, Indiana. 

William EverettManager - Mining and Crushing
Mr. Everett joined ESML in October 2010. Mr. Everett has over 35 years of experience in the taconite industry on the Mesabi Iron Range, holding various engineering and management positions with Cleveland Cliffs (currently Cliffs Natural Resources Inc.) for 31 years. Prior to joining ESML, he worked for Steel Dynamics, Inc. on the construction of its Mesabi Nugget LLC plant at the east end of the Mesabi Iron Range. Mr. Everett holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and a master’s degree in mine engineering from the University of Idaho. Mr. Everett is a member of the National Engineering Honor Society (Tau Beta Pi), a registered mine engineer through the Society of Mining Engineers, a member of the International Society of Explosive Engineers and a registered geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists and the State of Minnesota. He has received certificates from Rapport Leadership International and Dale Carnegie, and has obtained a Six Sigma Green Belt certificate. 

Sanjay BhartiaChief Financial Officer and Director of Finance
Mr. Bhartia joined ESML in 2013. He has over 23 years of senior executive experience. Prior to joining ESML, Mr. Bhartia was chief financial officer of Crossland Resources Ltd. in Australia. He has held various senior leadership positions with companies such as Aditya Birla Minerals Limited in Perth, Australia, Indo Phil Cotton Mills, Inc. in the Philippines and Hindalco Industries Ltd. in India. During his career, he has been involved with the development and financing of large greenfield resource based projects. Mr. Bhartia holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and is a member of Australian Chapter of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is also a graduate member of Australian Institute of Company Directors.
